Two years on Site
30th Aug 2019
This month we are celebrating two years since construction started on Manchester Airport’s Transformation Programme. In this short period of time, the programme has developed at a rapid rate and we have achieved a significant number of milestones.
In the last year alone, we have celebrated the ‘topping out’ of the Terminal 2 Extension (marking the extension reaching its highest point), dismantled the six tower cranes which were working on
the multi-storey carpark, started and completed steelwork on the baggage sortation facility and commenced steelwork on the T2 Bus Gate Lounge. In July, we announced the food and beverage brands which will feature in the T2 extension. The list includes a series of iconic Manchester brands and popular chains. On the airfield, we have commenced work on the Lima remote stands on the Western edge of the apron and the Pier 2 remote stands.
In April, we reached our most significant milestone to date – the opening of Pier 1, its aircraft stands and T2 Multi Storey West, giving passengers a taste of what is to come in our transformation.
